Acids in grooming... How scary that phrase sounds!

But you and I know that acidic products are your skin's best friend and always stay on top of your beauty and youthfulness.

These powerful ingredients are also known for their gentle exfoliating and anti-inflammatory properties!

For example, in the fight against acne, black spots and enlarged pores, not only retinol but also acids will be appropriate in the first place.

Many people are afraid of this ingredient in jars, drawing in their minds horrible pictures that the skin will start to peel, as after a strong acid peel at the cosmetologist!

However, as part of cosmetic products contains an acceptable and comfortable concentration of acids, which allows them to use even owners of sensitive skin.

Let's move on to the main thing. Namely - what acids are and what effect can be expected from them?

AHA acids (alpha-hydroxy acids). This family is often also called fruit acids. And there is a reason for that. They occur naturally in fruits, but also in milk and wine.

They include such biological substances:

Glycolic. It can be found in sugar cane and grapes.
The only acid that has a small molecular weight, which allows it to easily penetrate the epidermal barrier.

Lactic acid, which is derived from whey. This type of acid is excellent for moisturizing and improving the complexion. Reactive skin loves lactic acid!

Apple acid. By the way, it is not only found in apples, but also in tomatoes.
Malic acid is great for stimulating cells, which boosts metabolism!

Citric acid. Here it is clear from the name, that this acid is contained in all citrus fruits!
Here, on the contrary, it has the highest molecular weight and citric acid is known for its powerful lightening effect.

Action of fruit acids:

Gently exfoliate and renew.
Rejuvenate, firm and reduce depth of wrinkles
Strengthen elasticity and firmness.
Refine skin tone and complexion
Helping to lighten pigmentation and post acne marks

BHAs (Betahydroxy Acids). It's one of a kind and you've definitely heard of it.

It is, of course, the well-known salicylic acid. The best helper for problematic and oily skin!

Its unique feature is that it works not only on the surface of the skin, but also penetrates deep into the pores, effectively cleansing black spots.

BHA-acid action:

Normalizes sebum function and eliminates oily shine
Narrows pores
Strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties
Calms acne and soothes inflammation
Evens skin tone

PHAs (polyhydroxy acids). Their properties are similar to AHA acids, but they have large molecules which give the skin a delicate peeling effect!

There are only two acids in this group: lactobionic and gluconic.

The action of PHA acids:

Regenerate
Gently peel away the dead skin layer
Smooth the texture
Reduce the appearance of age spots
Improve complexion

PHA acids are great for sensitive skin because they don't irritate the epidermis, soothing redness and peeling!

They also do not increase photosensitivity, so we can safely use them even in the sunniest period.
